Fég SA-85M

This was my first rifle and it's still one of my favorites.  It's a Hungarian SA-85M semi-automatic AK-47 style rifle.  In fact, it's so fun to shoot that it's illegal in some states.  I think everyone ought to own at least one AK style rifle.  They're incredibly reliable (Mikhail Kalashnikov sure knew what he was doing), cheap to shoot, and just plain cool for the simplicity of the design. If you can find one for a reasonable price, GET IT!  My one complaint about this gun is that the finish that came on the stock was too thin, and the light-colored wood started to get dirty.  I sanded it all down and gave it a couple of coats of polyurethane, which explains why it looks so shiny.  It has a recoil buffer from Buffer Technologies installed.  These buffers do seem to actually reduce recoil somewhat, and they're supposed to protect the receiver when the bolt carrier slams the rear wall.  For the price, they're a cheap form of protection for your investment.
