This fine bolt action is a Mosin-Nagant Russian M91/59 Carbine. The gun was orignally made in 1943 as a model 91/30, but was later modified to the model 91/59 configuration. Not a whole lot is known about these, but several people have reported that they were used by Soviet police agencies and other security forces. |

These markings appear on the barrel where it meets the receiver. The top marking of course is the familiar hammer and sickle, which was placed on all rifles manufactured at Izhevsk since 1928. 1943r refers to the year the receiver was manufactured. 1891/59 is the model number. Below that is the serial number (which isn't entirely visible), and finally, the arrow in the triangle at the bottom signifies that this rifle was produced by the Izhevsk factory. |
