This fine weapon is an M1 Garand. It was made by Springfield Armory sometime in the 1950s, and it's in excellent condition. The stock has no cracks, scratches, or dents, and the metal is equally nice. I initially had a couple of problems with this rifle when I got it - the first problem was due to bad surplus ammo, and the second problem was a weak op-rod spring. After a quick visit to Fulton Armory's website, a new spring arrived and the problem was solved. The gun is a real pleasure to shoot, which is somewhat surprising, given its powerful ammunition. The kick isn't really noticeable, but it does go off with a very satisfying boom (I think I heard the guy next to me, who was shooting an AR-15, mutter something about a cannon). I just had to own the gun that General George Patton declared "the greatest battle implement ever devised." |
