This is a Russian Mosin-Nagant M1891, originally made at Tula in 1895. This rifle has been around for a long time, and the barrel was replaced in 1915 with a new one from the Izhevsk arsenal. I bought this lengthy beast to complete my collection of Mosin-Nagant rifles. This gun is very accurate and is fairly easy to keep on target due to its rediculously long sight length. The gun is so long that I had to build a separate shelf in my vault so it wouldn't hit the ceiling. The image to the right shows a size comparison between the 1891 and the M44. |

These markings appear on the barrel where it meets the receiver. 1915r refers to the year the barrel was manufactured (the receiver is dated 1895, which you can see in the next photo). Below that is the serial number. The bow and arrow signifies that this rifle was produced by the Izhevsk factory. The strange marking at the bottom of the picture used to be an imperial eagle. When the communists took over, they defaced this mark. |
| The stamping on the receiver tang says 95r, which means the receiver was made in 1895. | ![]() |
