Czech CZ-82

This gun is a CZ-82, made by Ceskoslovenska Zborjovka.  It features polygonal rifling in its barrel, which causes less distortion of the bullet than traditional grooved rifling, which theoretically means more accuracy. These were adopted in 1982 to replace the CZ-52 as the standard service pistol in Czechoslovakia. It still serves as the standard sidearm in both the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. My particular gun was made in 1988, and when I bought it in 2007, it had apparently never been fired.

Interesting Markings:

The crossed swords indicate that this gun was accepted after proof testing. The 88 is the year of manufacture, 1988.
