This well-worn old revolver is a Colt Police Positive. It was made in 1920 and is chambered in the obsolescent .38 S&W cartridge. The recoil on this gun is quite light and it's reasonably accurate - I can at least get all 6 shots in the black at 25 yards. Not much is known about the history of this gun, but it was sold to the Policia Federal Argentina (not the Argentine Policia de la Capital, as I originally thought - thanks to Leandro from Argentina for this information) in 1920 and was likely replaced by a 9mm Browning Hi-Power in the early to mid-1930s. I don't know what happened for the next 70 years, but in 2003, it found its home in my gun vault. In any case, it appears to have been carried a lot and shot very little, as nearly all the wear is on the exterior of the gun. |
